Free tax preparation assistance for individuals and families earning $57,000 or less

During the 2021 income tax season, the Ada Jenkins Center served as a partner agency for the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. This program offers free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals who may need assistance in preparing their own tax returns:  people and families who earn $57,000 or less;  persons with disabilities; and limited English-speaking taxpayers.

A team of 16 Ada Jenkins Center volunteers provided 313 hours of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) for our neighbors at two sites, in Huntersville and Davidson. They prepared 201 free tax filings for individuals and families whose income was less than $57,000 in 2020, saving them a collective $20,000!

Please check back here in late 2021 for information regarding the 2022 tax season.
