April 2007 Volunteers of the Month
Previous volunteers of the month
Bryan Payne - Loaves and Fishes Pantry
Bryan Payne has been a resident of Cornelius since 1994.
His hobbies are family time, fishing, and investing.
Bryan volunteers every week at the Loaves and Fishes Pantry and he is also an elder at the Cornelius Presbyterian Church.
Bryan's duties in Loaves and Fishes are not only placing our orders but also coming to the pantry on weekends with his whole family to stock the shelves. He has also taken Barbara on several "training excursions".
Bryan has been involved with Ada for more than four years and he has proven to be a real team player.
Lynette Plummer - Loaves and Fishes Pantry
Lynette Plummer has been a resident of Huntersville for the past 6 years.
Her hobbies are volunteering, playing sports, and reading.
Lynette volunteers every Thursday at the Loaves and Fishes Pantry. Her duties include but are not limited to shelving, organizing the pantry, rotating the food, and coming up with great ideas and suggestions so as to make the volunteer's job easier and to provide a better service to our clients.
Lynette has been a volunteer for the past two months. During this short period of time, she has been able to adapt quickly to the fast paced environment of The Ada Jenkins Center.
Lynette you have been such a blessing to our organization.
Sondra Rudy - Loaves and Fishes Pantry
Sondra Rudy has been a resident of Cornelius for the past almost two years. A lifelong volunteer, she has found several outlets for this commitment here in North Carolina.
She volunteers twice a month at Loaves and Fishes. Her duties include: Shelving groceries, order picking and bagging of groceries for clients. In addition, she has organized weekly food drives at her church, DCPC, which she drives to the center each week, unloads and shelves – also shelving any donations which have been left in the pantry (almost always a fair amount).
In support of the program she compiles lists each week of the local grocery specials that would be appropriate for L&F. This program has resulted in a quadrupling of the church's donations.
In addition to her work at Ada Jenkins, she volunteers every week at Seigle Avenue Preschool Cooperative, where she has organized, inventoried and now maintains their library of 2000 books.
She is also a member of Caring Hearts and will have a significant role in the next recognition luncheon for the organization.
She has been a volunteer since September 2005 adapting quickly to the fast paced environment of the Ada Jenkins Center.
Thank you so much Bryan, Lynette, and Sondra for all you do!!!!
The Ada Jenkins Center Board of Directors and Staff are forever in your debt.
