The purpose of LEARNWorks is to partner with facilities and schools to enhance and enrich the educational experience of students in our local communities.

To participate in the program, a child must be in 1st - 5th grade and be referred to the program by a school teacher. Students who attend Davidson Elementary School and Cornelius Elementary School are given priority.

On a daily basis, children who participate in the program need to bring all items required for them to complete homework assignments.

Schedule

LEARNWorks is open Monday-Friday from 2:15 PM to 5:30 PM daily from early September to the middle of May. The summer component of the program is conducted in partnership with Davidson College and uses materials sponsored by the Freedom School. Freedom Schools is a project designed by the Children's Defense Fund.

The fee for the program is $50 per year per child.

A Note About Our New Name

During the previous summer, various focus groups met to choose a new name for our program. After a couple of months of work, the name LEARNWorks was chosen.
