Programs and services offered at The Ada Jenkins Center are open to all clients. Translators are available to assist our non-English speaking clients. A client's eligibility for service is determined by the parameters set for each program such as: residency, income, identification requirements, etc.
The following are additional program opportunities that are available to our Latino clients.
Educational and Personal Improvement Programs
The Ada Jenkins Center and our partner agencies offer a variety of personal enrichment opportunities aimed at assisting our Latino clients:
- Computer classes (beginner and intermediate)
- L.E.A.D. (Latina Empowerment, Achievement and Development): A program led by Davidson College students that help Latina women prepare for job interviews and provides them with business clothing.
- E.S.L. (English as a Second Language) classes through the YMCA of Lake Norman. For more information, contact Daysi Cox at (704) 716-4406
- Referrals to Emergency Aid Programs
Volunteering
The Ada Jenkins Center relies on the dedicated efforts of skillful, bilingual (Spanish/English) volunteers.
